Francois Perinier. He’s Quite A Guy.

Hey everyone!

I’ve been busy these days and I’m sorry that it kept me from updating my blog!  I’ve been  kicking around a new idea, as always, and this time it’s for a new man on the scene.  His name is Francois Perinier, and as the title of this post says, he’s quite a guy.

Thanks to all for the kind and very supportive feedback!  I have amazing fans and appreciate every one!

I hope  you enjoy reading about Francois,

There’s a new guy in town.

First, what town are we talking about?  Why, New York City, of course!  It’s a much quieter place in 1842, when Francois Perinier gets off the train and arrives in NYC for the first time ever, but since people still  mostly walked to get where they were going, though fewer people actually lived there, the streets of New York were as jam-packed as you’d find them today.

Let me tell you a bit about Mr. Perinier.

Francois is from New Orleans, and the first child in his French family to be born in the USA.  He’s tall, well over 6ft., making him stand head and shoulders above most any crowd, and with his Gallic good looks that included piercing dark eyes, Francois had already broken a few hearts though he’d just turned 21 the week before.

Not at all interested in marriage at this point in his life, Francois is instead intent on earning a fortune that will impress his quite well-to-do parents, and earn him a name in the business world at the same time.  So it was money, and not love, that was on this handsome young man’s mind on this unusually warm April day.

Francois earns a nickname.

Believe in your dreams. They may tell you who you REALLY are……

Without taking more than trainfare and a small amount of money from his mother before leaving New Orleans, Francois needed to find employment fast.  Well educated, and possessing an aptitude for numbers, Francois landed a job as a clerk with a shipping company that so happened to be owned by two brothers who hailed from Marseilles, France, not far from where much of the Perinier family still lived. Martin Transport was the company name, and the two founding brothers, Paul and Charles, were but 5 and 7 years older than Francois, respectively.

Martin Transport was only 2 years in business, but was already thriving.  Offering coach, train and now overseas shipping, the company had grown in leaps and bounds, making the Martin brothers quite wealthy.  With more than 300 employees in offices throughout the USA and France, the company’s American headquarters on 5th Avenue was busy enough to rival even the most congested train stations and shipping yards around the world.

A manager named Pete Singer, who never failed to openly voice his opinions and always had a hidden agenda, took Francois under his wing right away.

“Francois?”  Pete looked up at the towering young man before him.  “That may not do, young man.  It’s too formal.  Around here you’re gonna be called Frankie.  Got it?”

Shifting his weight from foot to foot nervously, Francois did not know whether to be flattered or insulted.  No one had ever spoken to him in that manner before.  But, he quickly  understood, Pete Singer was his superior at Martin Transport, so it might be in his best interest to just go along.  “Of course.  Frankie sounds fine to me.”  Francois, or now Frankie as he was to be known from there on, smiled broadly, revealing startlingly white teeth.

But it gets a bit complicated.

To say the least.  As time goes on, both Paul and Charles reveal their true natures, and the nature of Martin Transport – and what it actually ships – is also revealed to Frankie.

This creates a problem for our young up and coming businessman, and he soon comes to a crossroad that he can’t avoid.  Does he follow the straight and narrow?  Or does he take the crooked path that is terribly more profitable, but comes with more danger than Frankie ever imagined.

Find out more…..stay tuned for updates.
