Literally, I suppose you could say.
Since my work on CounterClockwise is based on time-travel, of a sort, dealing with time is what I’m all about.
I love this series. Perhaps I’ve lost my own way when it comes to writing. Am I going through the dreaded Writer’s Block? Maybe. I don’t know exactly what qualifies a person for that, but, I can tell you all that the story still swirls around in my head. I just don’t sit down and write often enough.
And so, instead of complaining to all of you excellent people, I am starting a regular day to write beginning today. Wednesdays are my writing days. Grant you, sometimes it may not be much, just a few paragraphs, but other times I will post more.
Naturally i want to sell my work so I can’t post complete scenes or even complete character studies, but, I always write enough to give you a good idea of what is going on. And, let’s not forget, you can comment to your heart’s content and give me your thumbs or down about ideas I have.
My heart is still in it, ladies and gentlemen. I just need to get that keyboard in front of me and go to it.
Many, many thanks to everyone here. You are the inspiration behind me!
Now on to a bit more about Maria.
Who the heck is Maria anyway?
A Mexican girl born into high society with a beautiful face that sometimes attracts the wrong sort of attention. Her life was not long. Spoiler alert there, but, I believe you already know that.
Maria is complex. She tells the truth. And, that along with her gorgeous looks, also gets her some unwanted attention.
Maria is a previous incarnation of Claire. The two are connected by a string that is fragile and easily broken, but in their case, they want that connection to last, therefore they knowingly or unknowingly protect that string.
Marriage comes to Maria early in life, or, what we consider nowadays as early. In the 1840s getting married in your teens was a common thing, so it raised no eyebrows.
Babies are in Maria’s life. Two. Boys. Their future stories may be the base for more volumes, or another series. That’s up in the air.
There’s something magical about Maria. She does not perform magic, per se, but, she has that spark of magic about her. She knows things. Sees something undefinable in people and situations that others fail to see. Which, yes, also draws unwanted attention at times.
Maria gets in trouble. As blessed as she was with brains, beauty and prosperity, she lands in the middle of a violent situation. An uprising in Mexico that grows and comes to the US. Undercover operators are involved. Dangerous men and women.
While I am not writing graphic violence at all, or graphic sex either, there are tense moments that give you all you need to know. Maria fears for her life more than once.
And that’s it for this fine day!
Be well everyone – and post your comments!
Nancy

So good to hear! I really enjoy this series. It’s refreshing. I applaud you for not giving in to the common blood, guts and sex that’s out there on the market. After a while that really gets old. Many thanks and looking forward to seeing you here every week!

Yay!! This series is so good! Interesting. Smart. Love the way you tell it without going too far. I personally am sick of all the explicit sex and violence. I avoid books and movies like that anymore. Maria is potentially your best character. Possibly sharing that spot with Claire. They are joined. It resonates with me as I believe in reincarnation. God recycles – of course! Hugs out!

Hi Nancy! It’s so awesome that you’re back. I was beginning to worry! I like Maria, but love Nora. That’s just me. I do understand that your whole story is around the Claire/Maria connection though. I just like Nora. She’s tough as nails but looks like a china doll. Happy that you’re back at it again!
