Not a drastic change….
But, possibly very exciting news for my readers! As many of you already know, I’m reworking and re-writing my 3rd volume, “Race Against Time”. That should be completed by the early months of 2018. (Sorry if you’ve been waiting but I want to make it right!)
Well, in addition to that change, I’m going to be changing the other two volumes as well. Why? Because I have new ideas, and frankly, with the miracle of digital publishing I can do it. What many don’t realize about ebooks, is that what I’m talking about in this blog post is truly the wave of the future.
Think about it for a moment.
We’ve all read and seen the “alternate endings” writers have written for books, movies and television. How many times have you wondered “why didn’t they do that?” because it was actually better than what was released. It’s with that spirit that I’m doing my re-writes and changing direction.
But it’s a little – not total.
No, I’m not interested in taking my CounterClockwise Paranormal Romance Series back to the drawing board. I love so much of it. However, I have decided to add some touches and twists that I feel make it appealing to a wider audience. Here is a partial list of my ideas:
Adding contemporary references. More for comic relief than anything else, I’m going to have my 19th century characters refer to something “in the future” that surely did come about but had not in their lifetime. One thing is women getting the vote in 1919, which was decades after my series will conclude.
Modern attitudes. Again this would be more for a chuckle than anything else, I will have some rather stuffy, narrow-minded minor characters made bold, but totally ignorant, claims. These will include “homosexuals are never accepted as such” and “who would go to a woman doctor?”
More colorful language. My characters will have more modern appeal this way, and there will be a (quite clear) understanding of what they mean!
In addition to that, I will be…..
Making my female characters reach a turning point – and those who choose to claim their personal power succeed, while those who do not don’t end well at all.
Opening up the door to better understand the Southern USA residents before the Civil War. Not the slave-owners and bigots, but, the others who were neither, and who were working behind the scenes to abolish slavery legally, and give women basic rights such as voting.
Including more about how Christian beliefs had a positive effect on society, and how compassion and tolerance were indeed encouraged.
I’ll be going more in the concept of reincarnation, and making my characters, believers or not, come face to face with a past life they lived that they simply cannot deny.
A very big, “THANK YOU” to everyone who has been supportive of my work and continues to send me so much positive feedback. And, especially to everyone here at WordPress, for being such wonderful virtual friends!
