Sex. Drugs. Rock ‘n Roll.
Well, one, no, actually two of those things make it into my CounterClockwise Romance story.
Sexy. Steamy. Alluring. Magnetic. Can’t-tear-your-eyes-away kind of tension. That’s what true love, at least to hear me and other romance writers tell it, is all about.
This is after all a paranormal romance series – and that romantic aspect is going to include plenty of passion and desire among the characters. Some romance writers are famous for their red-hot scenes – others play it soft and subtle. For myself, I like to heat things up to a point, not cross too many lines, and leave the rest up to the imagination of the reader. That’s the best kind of sex scenes as far as I’m concerned.
Both men and women in my series are very sexually motivated. They love with all their might and that can – no that most definitely should – automatically mean having the major hots for the object of their affections.
Garter belts. Long hair. Blood red lipstick.
Yes, my ladies use all three to their advantage. They love their bodies – and pay no mind to size or age. It’s about beauty. Getting in touch with their Inner Goddess. And lipstick, or lip rouge as it was called back in the day of my story, came in glorious darker shades throughout history. All of this is to make our seductive heroines all the more so – and make our heroes long for them all the more.
A bit more about it.
How I create sex scenes could come under two headings – love and lust. Which is better? The love, of course, is always better. But lust is a part of life and so it can’t be ignored when writing about passionate people. And my characters are that.
For myself, lust has more of an angry and guilty quality to it and that tends to make things go wrong on all sides. I’m not one to write about the vengeful woman or man who ends up with a happy ending or even totally gets away with the emotional wounds they’ve inflicted. I prefer to see justice.
When its true love.
The Holy Grail right there. That’s the pot of gold my leads are looking to find and it takes them across country, puts them in mortal danger and makes them the target of jealous rivals. This isn’t for the weak of heart!
Not all love stories are easy and when it’s that special love that you don’t find very often, it will be all the harder to get and to keep. But it’s worth the effort and my leads do see that, if not at first, and the result is that they make decisions that most people would shrink from making and take risks that few people in real life would ever take. That’s what makes it “true” love – when you put yourself on the line and don’t back down.
Pour yourself a glass of wine (or a shot of good Kentucky bourbon), put the work on hold and start reading –

Yes! Love the sexy reads! Keep it going!
