Guys, unless you’ve been blessed to have found the perfect woman the first time you fell, or, have always had serious intentions toward women in general, you’ll understand why I needed to write this blog post – and why a woman flipping a man off needs to be part of every (realistic) romance novel on the planet.
Women love love.
And men love women but not necessarily love love. Get it?
Sex is always fun, and so all my lead characters take part in the pleasure, but, do they give their hearts along with — everything else? Not always. Sadly, perhaps, but, not always.
In the beginning.
There was a woman. She was hot. And she was smart and very nice too. The guy got all steamed up about her and chased her like she was this season’s game. But, when she decided it was okay to get caught, she wanted true love. She wanted the ring. She wanted goddamned love forever and ever. Uh-oh. That may not have been on the guy’s menu.
And so it goes that when a woman gets fired up, pissed off to the nines, both words and actions will come from her that are out of character and out of her usual scope of what’s considered proper and correct and all that. Especially given that we are talking about a woman living in the antebellum United States.
No matter how it happens. The result is the same.
A man ends up cringing at what he just saw happen. He can’t believe that the sweet woman who showered him with affection has just fired off so many nasty words at him. And then, what’s said about him around town could result in his getting less respect in his circle than he had before. And in my story that means fewer invites and even fewer business associates – which could affect his wallet as well.
Ladies can be evil shrews when given the proper motivation. And that whole idea of a woman scorned being the worst thing on Earth or even in hell, is a very true concept. Because there is nothing meaner. Or more dangerous.
This term is thrown around so much it’s pathetic. But there are real badasses out there. Not just the woman who thinks she is and brags about it – no! – it’s the one who is very nice and humble on the surface, but look out when she’s got reason to fire off because it’s gonna be one helluva fight!
So, my friends, there is much more to being a lady than just sipping tea and wearing a dress.
It’s what you don’t see that counts.
Such as a gun strapped to her thigh.
Bang, bang to the guy who did her wrong!
